Garlic Butter Skillet Asparagus
Nothing says springtime like fresh, snappy asparagus right out of the garden or farmers market. This quick skillet recipe turns it into a buttery, garlicky side dish that’s ready in minutes but tastes like it came straight from Grandma’s Sunday table.

Ingredients
-
1 bunch fresh asparagus (about 1 pound)
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
½ teaspoon salt (more to taste)
-
¼ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
-
Optional: A sprinkle of shredded Parmesan cheese or a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Instructions
-
Prep Your Asparagus:
Snap off the tough ends (they'll naturally break where needed if you bend them) and give them a good rinse. Pat dry. -
Heat It Up:
In a large cast iron or heavy skillet, melt the butter and olive oil together over medium-high heat. -
Flavor Blast:
Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. (Don’t let it burn — keep it moving!) -
Asparagus Time:
Toss in your asparagus and roll them around so they’re coated in all that buttery, garlicky goodness. Cook for 4–6 minutes, shaking the skillet or turning them with tongs every minute or so.
You want them bright green with just a little char, still tender-crisp. -
Finish Strong:
Hit them with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice right before pulling off the heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. -
Optional Fancy Touch:
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese or a pinch of red pepper flakes if you want to dress them up for company.

Serve hot — preferably outside at sunset with a tall glass of sweet tea or a cold, crisp white wine.
