Oklahoma Food Dude’s Watermelon Lemonade​

You ever take a sip of something so cold, so juicy, so dang perfect it feels like a cannonball into a summer sunset? That’s OFD Watermelon Lemonade — a splash of hand-squeezed lemons, a crush of sweet watermelon, and a drizzle of local honey that’ll make your taste buds do the two-step. Served up ice-cold and garnished with a wink of mint, it’s your new favorite way to beat the heat.

OFD Watermelon Lemonade — Because Regular Just Ain’t Right.

​Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh watermelon (cubed, seeds removed)

  • 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)

  • ½ cup Oklahoma honey (or adjust to taste)

  • 2 cups cold water

  • 1 cup ice cubes

  • Optional: a pinch of salt to deepen the flavor

  • Fresh mint or basil for garnish

  • Lemon and watermelon slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Blend the watermelon in a blender until smooth. Pour through a mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp (optional for a smoother lemonade).

  • Add lemon juice and honey to the pitcher. Stir well until the honey is fully dissolved.

  • Stir in cold water and ice. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness.

  • Serve over ice with a wedge of lemon and a sprig of mint or basil.Optional Add-Ons:

Add a splash of sparkling water or ginger ale for fizz.

For adult sipping, spike it with a shot of vodka, white rum, or a watermelon liqueur.
